KitchenAid Artisan Mixer Review
Whether you are looking for that perfect holiday gift or you are simply trying to make sure that you have everything you could ever possibly need in your kitchen, you are going to want to take a close look at the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer. Not everyone thinks that they are going to need such a powerful mixer for their kitchen set-up, but once you see just how easy it is to use and how many great dishes you will be able to make with it, you will wonder what took you so long to purchase it in the first place. Some people don’t bother looking into such things as the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer, thinking that they will be out of their price range. However, when you really give yourself a chance to start doing a little comparison shopping, you will actually find that it is rather affordable due to the price/lifespan ratio.
There are 3 things you want to keep in mind while shopping for a new mixer:
- Ease of use
- Ease of cleaning
- The Warranty
1) Ease of use:
Ease of use entails a few things which include Attachments, Controls, and Stability. I found that the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer attachments were very easy to get on and off. In fact, much easier than any other mixer that I have used in the past. This is because there are no buttons to press while removing them from the mixer. Some inferior mixer designs seems to take 3 hands to remove the attachments. To attach optional accessories: Simply remove the round metal medallion on the front of the mixer, attach the optional accessory to the power hub and you are ready to grind choice meats, prepare fresh applesauce, or make delicious homemade pasta. The KitchenAid Mixer gets no complaints from me in the Attachments Ease of Use Category.
The controls might seem a bit out of fashion to some due to them being both minimal and mechanical, but in the end they do the job very well. There are no lights to burn out or to get covered up by mixtures are being spun around on the counter-top. The KitchenAid Artisan Mixer controls consist of 2 levers. One to allow the head to tilt (model tested), and one to set the speed (0-10). Easy to use, and you will have no doubt what the controls are set to given the position which makes controlling the mixer a snap.
This mixer is a heavy item, but this makes it very stable and while using it, I never had it move around on the counter even at high speed. I have used other mixers that seemed to move about a bit due to what seemed like things a bit out of balance as well as the mixer being light weight. So, there are no problems with the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer in the stability area either.
2) Ease of cleaning:
OK, cleanup is not the first thing that comes to mind when purchasing a new mixer; but I want you to think about it. One of the last things that you do after making all those cookies and cakes is clean up the kitchen. If the mixer is a chore to clean up because of all the buttons, crevices, and strange attachments; how you might not want to use the appliance as often. Well, if you have seen one of these KitchenAid Artisan Mixer; you have probably figured out that it is easy to clean due to the smooth sleek surface. After using the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer, remember having to use a toothpick to dig out the grime from between buttons or some corner. Just a quick wipe down is all that this mixer needed from me to get it back to the high luster showroom look.
3) Warranty:
The warranty is definitely something that you want to keep in mind, and all KitchenAid Counter-top Products come with a great warranty. This is how you make sure that you are not going to end up wasting your money should something break or go wrong. Generally, you are not going to run into this type of problem with the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer, but I have information about the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer Warranty right here for you.
Warranty details are incredible:
If your kitchen counter-top appliance fails during the first year, KitchenAid will replace it free of charge. KitchenAid’s Hassle-Free Replacement Warranty guarantees that they will:
- Deliver a replacement right to your door
- Arrange the return of a failed appliance
- Guarantee the new appliance for one year
Summary:
The KitchenAid Artisan Mixer is a Tilt-Head Stand Mixer with a premium metallic finish and is complimented by 5 quart glass bowl with a handle, pouring spout, and measurement markings. This mixer will look great on your counter-top, while the 325-watt motor ensures the performance you expect from KitchenAid. I noticed that it is quiet, not that I was expecting otherwise; but given that the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer was closer to a commercial/professional mixer than the others that I have used, I was pleasantly surprised on how smooth it runs. The only negative that I could find with this mixer was the weight, but it should not be a problem for most people because they will probably leave it out on the counter on display as I did.
Hope this review helped you understand why this KitchenAid Artisan Mixer is a better deal than it seems at first glance. It not only has the power to do many things that would fry an inferior mixer quickly such as bread dough for example, but it was easy to use, and cleanup afterwards was a dream.
